New Fixed Line Numbers
The National Communications Authority (NCA) is introducing a new numbering plan in Ghana to conform to international standards, and this will result in new area codes as well as a new 7-digit fixed line phone number for everyone in Ghana – businesses and organisations as well as residential customers.
This government-mandated change means that from 1st May 2010, all current Vodafone fixed line customers will have new 3-digit area codes as well as having their telephone numbers being extended to 7-digit numbers. This will apply to every single fixed telephone line in the country.
- For example, if you currently have an Accra or Tema area code of 021 or 022, this will be changed to 030.
- If you are in Kumasi currently with a 051 area code, this will be changed to 032. In fact, all of the Ashanti region will now use 032 area code.
Please note that you will keep the last 5-6 digits of your existing number. Vodafone will only add additional digits to your old number to make up your new 7-digit number.
Also, customers must NOW dial the full subscriber number (Regional code + Prefix + Subscriber Number) to be connected to their destination. Dialling a subscriber number without the Regional Code + Prefix will result in the call being dropped since the dialled number will not be recognised.
Full details of what your new number will look like can be found below.
It is especially important to note that this change ONLY AFFECTS FIXED LINE NUMBERS. Vodafone mobile numbers are not affected and will still continue to use their existing numbers.
Be assured that Vodafone is aware of the possible impact this change in telephone numbers may have on you and will do our best to ensure that this changeover is as smooth and seamless as possible.
Vodafone mobile subscribers can dial *130*old telephone number# to get their new fixed line number.
