Professor Clifford Nii Boi Tagoe - Chairman

Professor Clifford Nii Boi Tagoe is the current Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, a position he has held since October 1, 2006. He has held the Office of Dean of the University of Ghana Medical School from November, 2000 to January, 2005 and, Provost of the College of Health Sciences of the University (2005-2006). Over the years, he has served on numerous Boards and Committees of the University, and was a member of the University Council between 1995 and 1997.

Professor Tagoe obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery (MB ChB), from the University of Ghana in 1976 and Doctor of Philosophy degree in Anatomy in 1983 from the University of Leicester.

Over the years, Professor Tagoe has taught Gross Anatomy, Histology, Embryology and Neuroanatomy and Electron Microscopic techniques to undergraduate and post graduate students and residents at the University of Ghana Medical School, the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, University of Ibadan, Nigeria University of Science and Technology and the Tulane University Medical School.

His major research interests are the comparative ultra structure of the vertebrate heart; and in vitro culture systems and their applications to the study of teratogenesis in the vertebrate embryo.

Professor Tagoe is a member of the Ghana Medical Association, the Anatomical Society of Great Britain and Ireland and the Anatomical Society of West Africa. He has been President of the Anatomical Society of West Africa from 2000 to date.

Professor Tagoe was at various times between 1991 and 1997, editor or acting editor of the West African Journal of Anatomy. He has been examiner in Anatomy for the School of Medical Sciences, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, West African College of Surgeons, College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, University of Sierra Leone. He is a Member of the Council of the Association of Commonwealth Universities, and Member of the Administrative Board of the International Association of Universities.

Professor Clifford Nii Boi Tagoe has rich professional experience and sterling administrative qualities in the field of higher education, having had almost 30 years of experience in teaching and in administration.
