Executive team

Meet the Executive team; the experienced and efficient team that runs the affairs of Vodafone in Ghana. 
 


Kyle Whitehill - Chief Executive Officer 

Kyle(47) was born and educated in Scotland and has a degree in marketing and economics. Kyle has worked in the UK, Central Europe and India for both telecom and consumer goods companies. His early career was spent in fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) with L’Oreal, Jeyes and Guinness before he entered general management with the Soft Drinks division of PepsiCo.

Kyle Whitehill joined Vodafone UK in 2001 as head of the Enterprise business. In February 2008 he moved to Vodafone India as Chief Operating Officer, shortly after the acquisition of the business from Hutchison. During his tenure as Chief Operating Officer, the subscriber base of Vodafone India’s business grew from 47 million to over 100 million.

Kyle Whitehill is a keen golfer and supporter of Glasgow Rangers football club and is married with 3 teenage sons.

 


Randell Hato - Chief Financial Officer  
Randell qualified as a Chartered Accountant at Rijksuniversiteit Groningen in the Netherlands in 1992, having obtained his Business Economics and MBA degrees prior to that. Twelve years of his career since then has been in increasingly senior financial management roles in the telecommunications industry in the Dutch Antilles, Netherlands and Zambia.

 Randell key strengths include being able to establish and instill rigorous financial controls and also provide value-added commercial advice to management.

Additionally, he has been very successful in establishing effective processes and efficient cost controls as well as tightening the purchase order system in order to ensure better use of short term deposits to generate more cash.


Tony Dolton - Chief Technology Officer  
Tony has been with Vodafone since 2006, working alongside the Chief Technical Officer of Vodafone UK to develop concepts on how to drive network efficiencies and reduce overall Mobile operating costs. 

Before joining Vodafone, Tony lived in South Africa and worked for Motorola as the Services Operations Director for Sub-Sarahan Africa and Eastern Europe.  He was also the Business Director for Motorola Managed Services across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.

Tony spent 20 years of his working life in the Royal Navy, and retired in 2001. He worked alongside the UK submarine Flotilla, holding various positions.

He was involved in the proposal by Vodafone to buy 70 per cent shares of Ghana Telecom. He has spent a significant period in Ghana in the build-up to the signing of the contract with the Government of Ghana. 

He says he is enjoying his stay and the opportunity to explore the beautiful country side. Tony is extremely proud to be part of the Vodafone team.

His hobbies include long distance cycling, sailing, diving and playing tennis. 


Edwin Alfred Provencal - Head, National Communications Backbone Company
Edwin is currently Head of the National Communications Backbone Company, a subsidiary of Vodafone. He was the Chief Officer in charge of exZeed Company Limited, a former subsidiary of Ghana Telecom now the Customer Care Unit of Vodafone. He was also the balanced Scorecard Champion.

Edwin holds an MBA in Management Information Systems (MIS) from the School of Administration, University of Ghana, Legon, and a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and a member of the Project Management Institute, US. He is an Executive member of GASSCOM and a Governing Council Member of the ITES Training Expert Group, GOG. Edwin plays basket ball and is a soccer enthusiast.


Chris Coetzee - Chief Information Officer
Chris has over 20 years' experience in the telecommunications sector with the past 10 years spent in senior management and executive level positions.

Chris developed his career into the mobile Telecommunications industry joining MTN Nigeria as General Manager for IT Infrastructure Services where he was responsible for technical and strategic planning for core enterprise computing environments. After three and a half years he was promoted to Chief Information Officer where he led the overall strategy and policy administration of MTN Nigeria's Information Technology.


Irene Stella Appiah-Nkansah - Chief Officer, Human Resource Management
Stella Appiah-Nkansah is a renowned Human Resource Practitioner who holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, a Post Graduate Certificate/Diploma in Public Administration as well as an MBA in Human Resource Management.

She has worked with Ghana Telecom for the past 20 years, nine of which has been as Head of HR - handling a diverse workforce of over 3000 employees across Ghana. She is a member of a number of professional bodies in Ghana and abroad. She also serves on a number of committees and has attended numerous international workshops, seminars, training programmes and delivered papers/ facilitated in some of these programmes.


Björn Flormann - Head, Consumer Mobile
Björn Flormann joined Vodafone from the Telefonica group, where he was Managing Director Marketing and Sales of FONIC GmbH, Germany.

Prior to this role, Björn has been employed in a number of senior management roles with Telefonica o2 Germany, VIAG Interkom and Vodafone D2. He started his career as a consultant with Unisys Corp. and holds a joint Master's degree in Business Administration and Electrical Engineering.

Björn is responsible for the mobile strategy and propositions and manages the Customer Experience Centres.


 

Duncan Paterson - Head of Enterprise Business Unit
Duncan has been on the frontline of the Telecommunications industry for more than 27 years, and is currently leading the Enterprise Business Unit for Vodafone Ghana, where he’s driving the ‘Total Communications’ strategy for Vodafone Ghana’s major clients and Government departments.

Before joining Vodafone Ghana, Duncan was a Business Director for HCL-BPO, where he was responsible for the extensive relationship with British Telecom. This included the delivery of both on and offshore services in the Sales, Billing and Technical help desk areas.

Duncan previously worked for British Telecom for more than 25 years. His last role in British Telecom was Director of Strategic Sales, where he was responsible for driving revenues and customer satisfaction with British Telecom’s top 15 customers.

He has vast experience in building strong World Class teams that were specially developed to understand the needs and requirements of Major and Government clients, and he is planning to do the same here in Ghana.

Duncan is married with two children and loves life here in Ghana, he is an avid follower of Chelsea FC, where he has a season ticket and a keen motorcyclist having once owned a Harley Davidson.

 


Marc Norris - Director, Consumer Fixed
Marc joins Vodafone from Finnish-based Oplayo, where he held the role of CEO. He brings 21 years of consumer based telecom experience working internationally in Australia, Hong Kong, Netherlands, France, UK, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria and Finland for the likes of Telecom NZ, One.Tel & BT.

Marc and his wife are expecting their first child in April.
